Vanuatu police chief lays out 100-day plan

THE Vanuatu Police Commissioner Albert Nalpini has signed off on a plan to try and turn the force around in 100 days.

The commitment released by the police said the commissioner is aiming to establish discipline within the force, to develop unity, encourage independence and grow trust and confidence, so the country’s security and strategic priorities are assured.

The 100-days plan is in line with the several schemes already in place, including the Vanuatu National Development Plan.

The move by the new commissioner comes after two previous commissioners had faced accusations of mutiny, disputes between the main force and the para-military unit, the VMF, and while the government had struggled for more than two years to name a permanent commissioner.
