FIJI is at the top of the list on the highest number of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the Pacific.
This was revealed during the 70th World Health Assembly earlier this year.
Minister for Health and Medical Services, Rosy Akbar says they need to ensure the maximum awareness and advocacy is being done.
“I was quiet uncomfortable to note that Fiji is the first on the list for the highest NCD cases in the region. My Ministry and we cannot combat this man made epidemic on our own. We need all hands on deck, the battle is real and this requires effective partnership with NGO’s, faith based organisations and the private sector.”
Akbar says Fijians need to plan their diet and exercise daily to stay healthy as good health is the key to a happy and productive life.
